Hello!
I'm Zoie Babakitis...
and I currently work as a Senior UX Designer at FCB Health NY. I graduated from CUNY Hunter College, where I earned my degree in cognitive and behavioral psychology. So how did I break into UX, you ask? Well, in March of 2020 I was lucky enough to come across a post on LinkedIn for CUNY TechWorks UX/UI Research & Design Training Program. I applied, went through multiple rounds of interviews, and somehow managed to beat out close to 1,000 other applicants to become 1 of 30 students accepted into my cohort! For the next 6 months of my life, I spent 8 hours a day, 5 days a week gaining hands-on experience and learning from current leading industry professionals about what goes into conducting unbiased user research & testing, the principles of Design Psychology, responsive web design vs mobile app design, and even a little bit of HTML5/CSS3!
Now, where do my interests fall on the vast spectrum of UX? That's an easy question to answer. I am extremely passionate about Human-Centered Design and am an advocate for Inclusive Design and Accessibility. I believe that the success of a digital product is not measured by how beautiful it looks, but by how intuitive, accessible, and user-friendly the experience is.
If you were to ask me which phase of the UX Design Process I think is the most important, I would have to say the User Research phase. It is because of these research findings that those of us working and designing in the field of UX are able to gain an empathic understanding of the problems we are trying to solve for.
I am proficient in Figma and Axure RP when it comes to creating low-, mid-, and high-fidelity wireframes (depending on the ask and timeframe, of course), as well developing interactive prototypes for user testing. I am well-versed in Information Architecture, UX best practices, ADA/WCAG guidelines and standards, and mixed-methods research. Thanks to my knowledge with HTML5 and CSS3, I am able to create detailed functional specification documents for development handoff, and am typically the go-to UX Designer anytime Dev has a question for the design team! Talk about an honor!
I appreciate you taking the time to learn about me and how I got to where I am today, as well as view my work! If you're interested in chatting about potential work opportunities or just want to talk shop, please don't hesitate to drop me a line!
